about school

Often hailed as the best days, school days come with their own range of challenges.

From peeling your child from your trouser leg on their first day to coping with teen trauma, the school bell doesn't often mean a break from parenting for you.

They're often difficult days for children too and coping with the rough and tumble of school life can be an enormous strain.

There's plenty you can do to help, though, from teaching them key skills that will give them a head start at school to swotting up on the curriculum.

Your experiences
Parents' evenings are really important to let people know how their child is doing, so that they can be realistic about their child's progress.
Your questions
Should my child be taught bilingually in the primary school but not in secondary school?
Parent's pearls

"When you are dealing with a child, keep all your wits about you, and sit on the floor." - Austin O'Malley
The facts
