Your Challenge
Choreograph or freestyle a dance piece and upload to Blast. You can work as an individual or in a group of up to six people. It doesn't matter if you're style is Hip-hop, Ballet or Bollywood. We want dancers from all styles to step up to the challenge.
The prize
Five finalists will be invited to a BBC Blast dance extravaganza at National Theatre where they will take part in a dance masterclass with top choreographer Lyndon Lloyd and get to perform their routine at the Thames Festival.
The winner(s) will go on to work with the leading dance company United Dance on a new performance for UK RnB artist Jay Sean to be shown on BBC Switch.
What we are looking for
Your routine could be street dance, samba or breaking. Your dance could tell a story, be fast and funky, smooth and stylish and no more than 45 seconds in length. What we're looking for is dance piece which shows:
- An engaging performance
- Originality and artistic flair
- Choreography
- Reflects your passion for their chosen dance style
How to enter
Film your dance moves on your mobile or with a camcorder.
Please choose your backing track carefully, as we cannot showcase your performance if it contains any offensive languages or themes. Make sure you also include details of the artist, track name and recording label when you upload your entry.
Once you are happy with your entry, upload with the Dance upload form or post it to Blast.
- To upload your entry you will need to be signed on to Blast. Make sure you describe your inspiration as we will be taking this into consideration when judging your entry.
- If you prefer to post your entry send it to Dance Off Competition, Blast Online, MC3 D2, Media Centre, 201 Wood Lane, London W12 7TQ. Remember to include a description of your inspiration and your name, age and email address. We will not be able to showcase entries that have been posted in the competition gallery unless shortlisted.
The competition deadline is 15 August 2008.
